YEREVAN. – A remembrance evening commemorating the one-year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan, and titled “With you, Japan,” was held in Armenia’s capital Yerevan on Sunday.

The event was organized by the Khikari Cultural Center, with the support of Armenia’s Foreign Affairs and Culture Ministries. “Armenia, along with the other countries and people of the world, lent a helping hand to Japan,” MFA official Ashot Voskanyan stated, and stressed that ordinary people likewise had expressed a wish to assist.

In Voskanyan’s words, this desire to help is conditioned on the Armenian people’s profound inner connection with, and consideration toward, the Japanese people and culture.

He also informed that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is scheduled to visit Japan this summer.
