YEREVAN. – State officials declaring they want but cannot fight corruption should leave the office, head of opposition Free Democrats Khachatur Kokobelyan told the journalists on Monday.

He believes that those who do not see corruption in the current system, they just do not wish to. People claiming it is not easy to fight corruption are not persuasive and should leave the office.

According to him, lack of serious anti-corruption projects by the authorities testifies to the lack of providing exact time and date of realizing a state program, in particular, raising the salary for state employees.

“Any state project is useful, combating corruption is not an exception. The government has no idea how long it will take to overcome the corruption and no discussions are being held on the issue. In addition, ruling Republican Party (RPA) and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) are not holding any debates how to eliminate corruption, they are just discussing sharing the offices,” Kokobelyan added.
