An Ankara court dropped the case into the 1993 massacre in Turkey’s Sivas city on the grounds of the time limitation of the crime. 

The court stated that two of the defendants had died, whereas the time limitation factor was exercised for the other defendants, and therefore the case was discontinued, Radikal daily of Turkey informs. 

But the attorneys stated they will appeal this ruling.

On August 2, 1993, the Islamists in Sivas had carried out protests against a cultural initiative by the Alevis in the city, and they subsequently attacked the guests who had found shelter at Madimak Hotel. And 37 people were killed due to  insufficient attention paid by the authorities.
