YEREVAN. - The reports on retail sale of Georgian lamb presented instead of Armenian are untrue, representatives of the Armenian Agriculture Ministry told the journalists on Thursday.

“Only locally produced lamb is sold in Armenia,” said Ashot Hovhannisyan responding to remarks of Agrarian Peasant Union of Armenia Chairman Hrach Berberyan.

“In 2010 Berberyan claimed we have reduction in sheep production due to export of ewes to Iran. However, in 2010-2011 sheep stock has increased from 512 to 600 thousand,” he said adding it is the highest indicator registered over recent 40 years.
