ANKARA. – Turkey’s PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not head to Germany to receive the Steiger Award for tolerance.  

Erdogan canceled his visit to Germany—where he was to receive the Steiger Award for tolerance—due to the helicopter crash in Afghanistan, which claimed the lives of twelve Turkish military servicemen, Turkish PM’s Press Service informs.  

But Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s nomination for this award has raised a storm of protest among Germany’s Armenians, Kurds, Assyrians, and Alevis, who are preparing to hold a huge demonstration in this regard.  

This year the Award’s presentation ceremony will be held on Saturday in Bochum, and the aforesaid demonstration likewise will be get underway in Bochum, and on the same day at 4 p.m.
