YEREVAN. – Armenia’s economic activity index is 5.6 percent in January-February 2012, as compared with the same time period last year, the National Statistical Service bulletin reports. 

In January, the economic activeness was at 4.8 percent.

And the economic activity growth’s primary engine continues to be industry, with 18.5 percent. Agriculture is at zero percent, whereas construction has fallen by 0.1 percent.  

Trade growth comprised 0.6 percent, and services increased by 9.8 percent. 

Armenia’s average monthly salary in January-February 2012 is AMD 113,400 (approx. US$ 293), which is a 6.4-percent increase from the year past.

Foreign trade turnover constituted $778 million (11.6-percent growth), whose export is $185.1 million (12.3-percent growth) and import is $593 million (11.4-percent growth).   

In January-February 2012, the US dollar’s average exchange rate, against the Armenian dram, was at AMD 388.08/$1.
