At the 1st European Political Community Summit held in Prague in 2022, a four-way meeting was organized at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron and European Council President Charles Michel, bringing together the Armenian Prime Minister and the President of Azerbaijan, and it was there that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and I made a game-changing decision. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on May 4 during the plenary session of the 8th European Political Community Summit.

According to him, Armenia and Azerbaijan at that time mutually recognized each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. He added that this agreement created a real opportunity for reaching a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, outlined the architecture of a future peace, and led to the August 2025 Washington Peace Summit. Pashinyan recalled that at the White House, with the support and participation of US President Donald Trump, the President of Azerbaijan and he signed a peace declaration.

"The President of the United States also signed it as a witness. In the presence of three leaders, the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed the treaty on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We are now on a path that will lead to the realization of a very important project — TRIPP. It will promote peace through the unblocking of regional communications, the creation of new international routes from East to West and from South to North, making an enormous contribution to the resilience of international supply chains," the Armenian Prime Minister concluded.
