Foreign countries are signing multi-million dollar contracts with enterprises of the military industry of Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during a press briefing Thursday.

Responding to a question about the development of Armenia's military industry and the army in general, Pashinyan emphasized the importance of increasing funding for science by 2.5 to 2.7 times and raising salaries in the scientific sector by 100 to 300 percent. According to him, science is appealing to young people, and the contribution of domestic scientists to the development of Armenia’s military industry is extremely important.

Pashinyan said that he visited the opening ceremonies of Armenian plants, but these visits were not covered, since the task was to create conditions for the establishment of Armenia’s military industry, which is still happening now.

“Developed countries are signing multi-million dollar contracts with our military-industrial complex. Armenia has great scientific potential and traditions. Production capabilities are an important and complex matter, but without a substantive basis it is difficult to ensure the development of the system,” the Armenian premier added.

He expressed confidence that the products of Armenia’s domestic military industry will be presented even more widely at the military parade to be held in five years.

“Processes are already underway. In parallel with the acquisition of equipment, production facilities and infrastructure for long-term service are being created,” Pashinyan said, adding that not all products are presented today either, since the time of today’s military parade in Yerevan is limited.
