The impression is that everything is heading towards a geopolitical earthquake. The second president of Armenia and the candidate for prime minister of the "Armenia" bloc, Robert Kocharyan, stated this during a parliamentary election campaign meeting with the residents of Spitak town.
The politician announced his readiness to go all the way, since it is a "historic moment."
"If we do not change something in the country now, we will have serious issues. The alarms are already there. The impression is that everything is heading towards a geopolitical earthquake," Kocharyan noted.
The first president of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and the second resident of Armenia emphasized that during his tenure, the Armenian side was so strong that the Azerbaijanis did not dare to take any actions on the front line.
“There were no incidents, because the adversary knew that there would be a very serious response with grave consequences for it,” Kocharyan said, noting that Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan had left Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev $5 billion in weapons in Artsakh, and both admit this.
“(...) they [i.e. the incumbent Armenian authorities] failed the negotiation process and, in fact, did everything to make Aliyev start a war. They provoked and lost because they did not understand what they were doing,” Kocharyan said.
And reflecting on Thursday’s military parade in Yerevan, the politician noted that the Armenian army was used for propaganda purposes only in 1996; they held a parade, after which they went to the elections.
“Everyone knows how it ended. The worst elections in the history of Armenia. Now as well it will be the same for the [incumbent] authorities. They turned the army into a [parliamentary election campaign] propaganda tool,” Robert Kocharyan concluded.
