Since January 2022, relations between our two countries have made progress. Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli on Friday told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am on the sidelines of the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.

“And since March 2026, we have seen the implementation of the improvement of our relations, both the launch of Turkish Airlines flights [to Yerevan] and bilateral meetings of our businessmen.

We will continue this process in order to create bilateral peace. Turkey’s involvement has been primarily to create peace in the South Caucasus. All our work will be in line with this.

I express my gratitude to my colleagues and the people of Armenia who received me in Yerevan.

Next month, COP31 will be held in Antalya. Many important messages from today’s COP17 will go to COP31,” Yumakli added.

The Turkish minister, however, declined to comment on Armenian News-NEWS.am's remark that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's rhetoric runs counter to the peace agenda with Armenia.
