YEREVAN. – The activities are in progress to extinguish the fire at Spayka Company in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan (photos). 

The Minister of Emergency Situations, Armen Yeritsyan, has personally arrived in the scene. During the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter’s visit to the site, Yeritsyan had climbed up to a latter and he was managing the activities from there.  

A Ministry of Emergency Situations coworker told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the fire is contained but not yet put out, since there are combustible materials inside the building.   

The rescuers are not working inside the building because it is extremely dangerous. Some of the walls were brought down so that the firefighters can extinguish the fire.    

According to the firefighters, Yerevan has not seen a fire with such scope and extent in long years.   

To note, the fire had started on Wednesday at 11:58pm. In line with preliminary data, Spayka Company’s three-story building, with a surface area of 4,500 square meters, is completely on fire.
