YEREVAN. – There was a quarrel between the Armenian capital city Yerevan bazaars’ merchants, who on Thursday assembled outside the Government Building to protest the Law on Turnover Tax, and the “No to Plunder” initiative members, who had come to support them (photos).

The merchants got angry when the initiative members placed symbolic mousetraps in front of the Government Building.

The merchants called them provocateurs and demanded them to leave.

“You are not merchants; you have came here to make a show. Don’t provoke our protest! This is not a political show. Don’t bother us! Ours is an issue for a piece of bread,” the outraged merchants told the initiative members.

Subsequently, the merchants kicked the mousetraps away and a quarrel ensued.

Pursuant to the Law on Turnover Tax, which will come into force on October 1, a business enterprise will be warned at first, and, subsequently, it will be fined for not submitting a document on its commodity circulation. The large businesses, however, often do not provide documents to the small and medium-sized enterprises concerning the products.
