YEREVAN. – A small Armenian village of Getamej hosted a two-day open air rock festival River Fest that brought together 25 rock bands (PHOTO).

The organizers of the third festival describe their event as a “grandchild” of famous Woodstock, and this explains the choice of a location: Woodstock was first held at a dairy farm in the town of Bethel, New York.

Talking to the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent, one of the festival organizers Anzhela Hasasyan said the main goal of the initiative is to help the village. The funds raised during the festival were used for buying new textbooks.

“Last year we managed to change the school windows. This year our goal is to build a playground,” she said.

In addition, the organizers try to involve the villagers in the event. The locals sold food, fruits and vegetables and transported the participants to Yerevan and back for a fee.
