The Multi Group company will procure the harvest of all vine-growers of the Ararat Province in Armenia.
Company owner, and oligarch MP, Gagik Tsarukyan on Saturday made such a promise to these farmers.
“I’ve always been helpful to you,” said Tsarukyan. “And seeing that there is some topsy-turvy today, I came to meet with you, discuss, [and] find a solution so that you may go with your conscience at ease.
“I feel very good to be able to be helpful to you.”
The farmers complain that the contract-based procurement of their grapes is being delayed, and as a result, their harvest is rotting. In addition, a limitation has been put this year on the amount of grapes being procured by the processing plants.
As a sign of protest, the farmers on Friday had blocked off an interstate highway.
