YEREVAN. - French-based Karen Kulakyan and his friends Ludwig and Rammy, who have set off to Eurasia continent by electric tuk-tuk, are already in Yerevan. 

The boys reached Armenia’s Vanadzor city two days ago, visiting Karen’s relatives, and then arrived in Yerevan. French Rammy Fernandez-D’andre, 23, is impressed by the hospitality of Armenians. And German Ludwig Merz, 27, is talking with excitement about his first impressions from Armenia: “We had reached the border, 5-6 cars were waiting, and then [several] guys approached and said: “Welcome, come, come and pass,” and allowed us to pass before the rest of the cars. We felt like superstars.”

The boys, who left Thailand on August 9, visited Laos, China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Georgia before reaching Armenia. The tuk-tuk “let down” the boys only once, when the car’s battery died in China. The boys pushed the car to the hotel, where they connected the battery to the power.

It takes 12 hours for tuk-tuk to recharge. In case of its being fully recharged, it’s possible to cross roughly 250 km by it, moving at maximum 70 km/h.

The boys will leave Armenia for Turkey, and will then head to Bulgaria, reaching city of Toulouse in southern France. They are planning to cross 20,000 km and visit 15 countries during a 120-day journey. 

The boys took part in “Eco Yerevan” environmental campaign tonight, which was also attended by Green Mobility program team and members of Federation of Amateur Cycling and Bicycle tourism .

“Our main goal is to not only show capital’s residents that the nature should be kept clean, but also that the electric transport is quite nice and not inferior to the other means of transport. We want to break the stereotype that it’s not possible to travel by it for a long time,” Green Mobility team member Vahagn Vardumyan told Armenian News - NEWS.am.
