US Congressman Brad Sherman urged expanded aid to Nagorno-Karabakh, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).
During a House Foreign Affairs Committee exchange with USAID (US Agency for International Development) Administrator Gayle Smith, Sherman also called for increased aid to Syrian Armenian refugees, and targeted support for Javakhk—Georgian name: Javakheti, which is a predominantly-Armenian-populated part of Georgia’s southeastern Samtskhe-Javakheti Province.
ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian welcomed the statement, noting, in particular:
“Representative Sherman continues to be a forceful leader and thoughtful advocate for this crucial investment in peace, in addition to a broad range of [American Armenian] community priorities.”
