YEREVAN. – We met with Armenian soldier Shant Ghazaryan, who had lost his shin during the four-day war which Azerbaijan had unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) in early April, at the prosthesis center in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

Doctor-orthopedist Mkrtich Ginosyan was helping him adapt to his prosthetic leg. The doctors say this is a temporary prosthesis that helps him to adapt until a permanent prosthetic leg is fitted.

Shant was born and raised in Vanadzor, but they had moved to Yerevan several years ago.

He was serving in Talish village of the NKR Martakert Region, and he was wounded in a mine explosion on April 6, one month before being discharged from the army. Shant said he was wounded in the trenches.

He told Armenian News-NEWS.am that in September, he will start his studies at the Armenian State University of Economics, in Yerevan.

“We carried out our duty; the important [thing] is being completely cured, [and] everything is still ahead,” he said and continued his exercises.

The Red Cross had invited him to participate in a table tennis competition. He was hesitating whether or not to participate, and finally, his friends convinced him to participate.

Next for Shant is football, and Doctor Ginosyan has no doubts in this regard.
