Analysts in the US continue discussing the future developments in, and the prospects for a resolution to, the Karabakh conflict, according to the Voice of America Armenian service.

Reflecting on the prospects for the development of this conflict, Philip Gamaghelyan, Co-Founder of the Imagine Center for Conflict Transformation, noted that in the case when the situation was leading to war until the April war, this four-day war—which Azerbaijan had unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh)—froze some militant mood. April proved that the problem cannot be solved by war, and considering this, Gamaghelyan doubts that Azerbaijan would not resort to such steps yet again.

Richard Kauzlarich, the former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, for his part, agrees with Gamaghelyan that the war in April has made mutual concessions impossible for the near future. As per the diplomat, however, the Karabakh conflict is on a perilous track, after April. In his view, the conflicting parties saw that the military way is the only way to maintain their positions, both domestically and internationally. In Kauzlarich’s words, even though a war in the Karabakh conflict zone is unlikely under the cold winter conditions, the coming spring could bring a dangerous situation along with it.
