YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Wednesday arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on an official visit. 

After the official welcoming ceremony, an extended meeting—with the participation of the two official delegations—was held between Sargsyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Subsequently, they held a tête-à-tête.

The President expressed the hope that the talks to be held and the agreements to be reached during his visit to Kuwait will considerably contribute to the further development of Armenian-Emirati relations, the Press Office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Sargsyan also noted that Armenia-UAE relations have entered a new phase of development, over the course of the past ten years.

The interlocutors shared the view that state relations are developing with success between Armenia and the Arab countries, including the UAE.

President Sargsyan and Crown Prince Al-Nahyan underscored the need to also increase Armenian-Emirati trade and economic cooperation. In this connection, they agreed to intensify UAE investments in Armenia’s economy.

During the ensuing talk, the parties reflected on matters that are on the bilateral agenda as well as current regional and international issues, including the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) peace process.
