YEREVAN. – Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) membership gave Armenia greater results than European association.  

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms, Vache Gabrielyan, on Monday told the abovementioned to reporters at Parliament. 

“We assessed the countries that went through European association: Georgia, and Moldova; the EAEU gave [Armenia] a bigger result,” Gabrielyan stated. “But all the same, there was Russia’s influence on all countries in the region, and thus we were decoupling the [EAEU] joining effects from the effects of the economic situation.”

The Armenian deputy PM considered it natural that after the EAEU accession, problems have risen in Armenia’s trade relations with third countries.

“Naturally, they [these problems] would have emerged, since we [Armenia] have become a member in another organization, and thus our relations are mediated through a single economic tariff,” Vache Gabrielyan added.

The Eurasian Economic Union comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
