YEREVAN. – The movement of positions in the direction of Nakhchivan was mainly registered from February to May, Armenia’s acting PM Nikol Pashinyan told reporters in Dilijan.
His comment came in response to a remark by Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev who said they have gained control of 11 thousand hectares in the direction of Nakhchivan.
“The defense minister several times invited groups of journalists who went to the border to study the situation on the ground. Am I right?” he said. “I see certain remarks by former officials. Ninety-five percent of the problems in the direction of Nakhchivan were recorded from February to May. If something happened, it happened prior to my premiership. In fact, there was a certain movement in positions, and on both sides. I do declare that the territories that were controlled by the Armenian Armed Forces as of May 8 remain under our control.”
He assured that the Armenian Armed Forces have improved the positons and the strategic initiatives remains on Armenia’s side.
“There have been no territorial losses during my premiership,” Pashinyan added.
