Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with EU officials during his visit to Brussels.

The first meeting was with European Council President Donald Tusk. They discussed EU-Armenia relations, visa liberalization, implementation of CEPA, as well as the Karabakh conflict. Pashinyan said he appreciates technical and financial support of the EU to the Armenian government’s reform agenda, which envisages fight against corruption, protection of human rights and consolidation of the rule of law.

Donald Tusk, in turn, assured that EU will continue to support Armenia's journey towards becoming a consolidated democracy and creating a better economic future for its citizens.

Armenian PM is also expected to meet with the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and will meet with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

March 5th marks the birthday of National Hero of Armenia and Artsakh Vazgen Sargsyan.

Today his friends-in-combat, public and political figures and average citizens came to honor his memory at Yerablur Military Pantheon.

Another ceremony was held in Artsakh where the local officails, as well as the third president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, were present.

Israeli citizen Mari Agajanian, who was supposed to enter prison in November 2017 for 26 months after she was convicted of defrauding new immigrants in difficult financial circumstances, was arrested in Armenia.

The woman was arrested in Armenia in an Interpol operation conducted at the request of the Israeli authorities.

Not only did Agajanian escape from Israel without the authorities notice; she returned at one point to visit her parents and left, again without anyone stopping her.

The situation over the appointment of a new Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is yet unclear.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has expressed concern over the “unhealthy situation” at the CSTO, including with respect to the appointment of the next secretary general of this organization.

“In view of the global developments, the importance of this organization [the CSTO] is of no doubt,” the Belarusian president said, BelTA reported. “But now the organization is caught in some unhealthy situation. Take, for example, the routine issue of appointment of the secretary general.”

Meanwhile, Armenia's Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan ruled out that the matter with respect to the next CSTO Secretary General can be resolved without Armenia’s consent.

“At this moment, the MFA is carrying out relevant work at the CSTO, the CSTO Secretariat is carrying out relevant work, [and] the Defense Ministry has expressed its view,” he said.
