I have no worries about the statement of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan because the whole world knows how much the statements and actions of Azerbaijan differ from each other. This is what Deputy Minister of Defense Gabriel Balayan told journalists at the National Assembly, touching upon the fact that Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense has viewed Armenia’s Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan as a terrorist.

According to Balayan, the Azerbaijanis are probably making these statements for internal consumption or are making statements that they would like to hear. “There are specific definitions of terrorism in international law and in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, as well as in international documents that both Armenia and Azerbaijan have joined, and the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group also form a part of those documents. Those documents don’t include any provision by which the statements of a minister of defense can be interpreted as terrorist. Perhaps our counterparts are unaware of those international documents and fantasize when they make statements,” he said.
