YEREVAN. – We cannot be in favor if there is a risk, after the adoption of the bill against “criminal subculture,” that at least one innocent person may be convicted on a false charge. Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the opposition Prosperous Armenia faction at the National Assembly (NA), said this in a conversation with journalists in the NA today.

Zohrabyan disagreed with the observation that there is a view that Prosperous Armenia voted against the bill, as there are people in that party who are affiliated with that subculture, and she noted that the opposition Bright Armenia faction also abstained from voting on this bill.

"Yes, if there is a crime, if he has committed a crime, he should be condemned," she emphasized. "But alleged suspicions should not become a criminal punishment."
