YEREVAN. - The precautionary measure of Mihran Poghosyan, former MP and former head of the Judicial Acts Compulsory Enforcement Service of Armenia, has not just been abolished. Artur Davtyan, the Prosecutor General of Armenia, noted about this in a conversation with reporters on November 29.

"When the country refuses to hand over, it can no longer hold anyone for one second," he said. “But in this respect we are continuing discussions with our Russian colleagues. And given that the criminal case is still at an active phase, I do not rule out that we will have new, more serious crime episodes in this regard.

"We will continue to substantiate, with every specific situation, the urgent need for his extradition."

According to information received earlier from the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, the Armenian Prosecutor General's motion to extradite Mihran Poghosyan for criminal prosecution could not be granted based on the provisions of the Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases.

Mihran Poghosyan, who is wanted by Armenia on charges of embezzlement and abuse of office, was found in Russia.
