YEREVAN. – Members of ARF Dashanktsutyun youth union, who were detained earlier today, have been released.
Human rights activist Ruben Melikyan told reporters that none of them accepted that they had violated the order. Melikyan emphasized that police officers’ actions at the department were in compliance with the law.
As reported earlier, the protesters invited Arayik Harutyunyan, the Minister of Education, to a meeting and tried to break into the building of the department after his refusal.
The young people sat down at the entrance to the ministry, while law enforcement officers demanded that the protesters release the entrance to the building. The police forced the young people back. Protesters blocked Vazgen Sargsyan Street in response and 24 demonstrators were later taken to police departments.
