YEREVAN. – Members of the Kamq public initiative and former Nairit plant employees are protesting in front of the Armenian government building today. They demand to resume the plant’s operation.

"We demand that the Armenian authorities put aside 30 years of indifference and include Nairit in the agenda of investment programs," Vahagn Chakhalyan, coordinator of the Kamq initiative, said. "We have clear information that today there is hardly any talk of Nairit in meetings with investors, which we consider a criminal treatment toward the country's economy."

"We are aware that Nairit's property is being sold part by part to provide security and maintenance costs," said one of the protesters. “If we allow this, in a while we will lose the factory irreversibly. One of our demands is that the state take over Nairit's security and maintenance costs until resuming operation. Another demand is for the government to start actively discussing the issue of resuming Nairit’s operation and include it on the agenda of the Armenian economic revolution."
