YEREVAN. – One of the most important questions we need to answer is: Let's say 10-15 days ago, when we had a positively diagnosed number, we knew that in reality, the real number of infected citizens is at least several times higher. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the government of Armenia.

"There were different estimates: 60 to 100 thousand, and more. Now it is important to find out to what extent these new cases, these new diagnoses are within the range of these 60-100 thousand number that we know, and on the other hand, how much this number is increasing; that is, what is our assessment in terms of the spread of the infection," he said.

In response, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan said as follows, in part: "Even if it would possible to examine everyone on the same day, we still can't find them all because there are infected citizens who became infected today, but the virus in them may be detected in 4 to 5 days.

Of course, increasing the number of tests will lead to new cases, some of which may be asymptomatic and never be confirmed. Citizens who do not have any symptoms are among the assessed number.

It is very difficult to count the number of active infected persons."

"There have been no major outbreaks in recent times, but the infection is everywhere, and we need to protect ourselves from it," he added.
