Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia Felix Tsolakyan today received newly appointed Representative of the UNICEF in Armenia Marianne Clark-Hattingh. Coordinator for the Disaster Risk Reduction in Armenia program Tigran Tovmasyan was also attending the meeting.
The minister highly appreciated the cooperation with the UNICEF and expressed gratitude for the work done through the three Disaster Risk Reduction in Armenia programs.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the current challenges and priorities for the protection of the population.
Tsolakyan attached importance to the issues related to programs for cooperation, particularly in the areas of seismic defense, responses of the psychological and rescue services.
Marianne Clark-Hattingh stated that she was glad to meet the minister and reaffirmed the UNICEF’s willingness to work closely with the Ministry of Emergency Situations for capacity-building for disaster risk management the introduction of education about disaster risk reduction in schools.
