If Nikol Pashinyan felt ashamed and had honor, he would have apologized to the Armenian people and resigned immediately because a defeated leader can’t remain the leader of a country. This is what leader of Homeland Party, ex-director of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan told reporters after the opposition’s rally at Liberty Square in Yerevan today.

“Unfortunately, Nikol Pashinyan has no intention to resign, and this is why we will make him resign through public pressure,” he said, adding that the opposition will announce its future plans in the days to come.

In response to a reporter’s question, Vanetsyan said his political party will participate in snap parliamentary elections, if they are held.

Asked who will be the Prime Minister in case a government of national accord is formed, Vanetsyan emphasized that the Prime Minister will be a person who is maximally accepted by the people and assured that the name of the new Prime Minister will be announced soon.

When told that the President of Russia says Pashinyan is not a traitor and asked if this doesn’t mean that Moscow is against Pashinyan’s resignation, Vanetsyan said the following:

“I don’t think Moscow is getting entangled or has the desire to get entangled in Armenia’s domestic affairs. Only the political parties in Armenia must solve the issue of Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation.”
