On the night of Feb. 12, police officers of the Patrol Sentry Service of Armenia in Yeghegnadzor apprehended two men and their car from the Areni intersection of the Yerevan-Meghri road on suspicion of keeping and transferring illegal weapons and ammunition.

After inspection of the trunk and salon of the car, the police found 1,309 bullets of a machine gun in metal containers and 240 containers of canned food envisaged for the needs of the Ministry of Defense. According to the younger of the men, they had obtained the weapons and ammunition and canned food while participating in the military operations in Artsakh in October 2020 and had kept them in a construction.

Expert examination has been designated, and circumstances are being established.
