YEREVAN. – I do not predict that there will be security issues during the snap [parliamentary] elections; in case of any snap elections, all security measures will be ensured. The minister of justice, Rustam Badasyan, on Tuesday told this to reporters in the National Assembly of Armenia.
"As for the use of administrative resources by the government, I believe that is in the field of a joke because we have proved, both during the national and local elections, that after June 2018, not only electoral fraud, but also an attempt at [electoral] fraud did not took place in the Republic of Armenia," Badasyan said.
To the remark that the situation has changed, that people from the provinces were brought to the March 1 rally of the authorities by the use administrative levers, about which there are recordings, the justice minister responded: "That is in the field of assessments. You have to look at the content of those recordings, what people are involved in, and so on. The concrete fact is the following that after June 2018, elections in the Republic of Armenia have not been rigged at any level."
And asked whether he is confident that the serving government has a high popularity rating, Badasyan gave a positive response. "Yes. I am confident, and all the public documents we are all familiar with, the surveys conducted by the International Republican Institute attest to that."
