- Erika Olson, the newly appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, will travel to Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia to promote regional cooperation and discuss bilateral issues.
While in Yerevan, DAS Olson will participate in a regional Chiefs of Mission meeting in November 2-4, joining U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne M. Tracy, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly C. Degnan, and U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger, as well as Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Andrew Schofer and USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator Alexander Sokolowski.
The participants will engage in internal discussions as well as informational meetings with representatives of the Armenian government and civil society.
- On his way back to Turkey from the G20 summit in Rome, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented the details of his meetings held during this summit.
Speaking about his talk with French President Emmanuel Macron, Erdogan noted that several issues were discussed, including the South Caucasus.
"During this meeting [with Macron], the issue of creating a six-party platform in the region was pushed forward. If all the parties, including Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, Georgia, and Armenia all agree, Turkey will create a peace platform here," he added.
He also claimed that Aliyev had a talk with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which the topic of creating a platform of six regional countries was put on the agenda.
- As of Tuesday morning, 1,232 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, and the total number of these cases has reached 310,629 in the country.
Also, 62 more deaths from COVID-19 were registered, making the respective total 6,441 cases.
- Bronze medalist of Tokyo 2020, world’s two-time bronze medalist, two-time European champion Hovhannes Bachkov made it to the quarter-final of the World Boxing Championships taking place in Belgrade.
The captain of the Armenia national football team competed with Italy’s representative Gianluigi Malanga in the 1/8 final of the 63.5 kg category boxers and defeated Malanga 3-2.
The 28-year-old Armenian boxer started from the 1/16 final during which he had scored an impressive victory over Azerbaijani Malik Hasanov.
- Warner Bros. nominated Dune for an Oscar in 14 categories.

Director Denis Villeneuve this year released a film based on the novel by Frank Herbert 'Dune', which was previously recognized as non-screened. The world premiere took place on September 3. The movie has grossed nearly $ 300 million at the international box office.
