By its decision Thursday, the government has dismissed Razmik Petrosyan from the post of Governor of Aragatsotn Province of Armenia.

And by another decision, Sergey Movsisyan, a former member of the ruling majority “Civil Contract” Faction in parliament, has been appointed provincial governor of Aragatsotn.

Movsisyan had given up his parliamentary seat on January 4.

Razmik Petrosyan was appointed governor of Aragatsotn three months ago. And in December last year, there were reports in the press that he had been appointed to this position in violation of the law, as he had been appointed provincial governor with a fake diploma.

Petrosyan was a participant in the First Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) War in the early 1990s, and was the deputy commander of the Aparan platoon of Armenia’s special regiment.
