The dirty mechanisms of insults were introduced by the "revolutionaries"—using them widely in the days of the "revolution." Lawyer Hayk Alumyan said this in an interview Wednesday—and regarding the respective present-day situation in Armenia.

In the context of the authorities’ fight launched against insults, he stated that in the days of the revolution in Armenia in 2018, the incumbent authorities were voicing insults on social media.

"At that time, there was very little opposite opinion being voiced, as the 'revolutionaries' were applying dirty technologies of insults. It was not possible to find an alternative opinion. However, no law was passed against insults at that time. But when the current authorities became the target of insults, they adopted laws, which allegedly try to protect everyone, but in reality, they protect [solely] the authorities. Moreover, the law on criminal liability for insulting the Prime Minister is totally unlawful," the attorney said.

"Of course, it is not pleasing to anyone to read insults. [But] it is another thing when they themselves introduce the [aforesaid] technology," Alumyan added.
