There is a government decision that regulates the procedure for cargo transportation from province to province, but it is not applied in Yerevan. Kamo Areyan, adviser to the mayor of Yerevan, noted this during Monday’s consultation at Yerevan city hall.
According to him, the concrete mixing and other trucks entering Yerevan from the provinces crush the hot asphalt in the sloping sections.
"I propose your instruction, let's sit down together, try to find solutions within the framework of that decision to make controllable by the inspectorate in the city of Yerevan. The trucks coming to Yerevan are not weighed, the cars, concrete mixers coming from the provinces are not weighed," Areyan said.
In response, Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan said: "Here it turns out that we will resolve that paperwork issue. If the drivers don't drive correctly, we will have that problem."
Having learned that a fine of 30,000 drams is envisioned for the pollution of the traffic area by drivers, the mayor added. "I believe that if it's 200 thousand instead of that 30 thousand, that driver, I assume, will get 200 thousand a month, right? I believe he will think about how to drive so as not to pollute the city."
