The formation of single industrial markets of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) in the energy sector is not only a matter of fulfilling the provisions of the EEU agreement, but a necessary condition for realizing the economic integration potential of the resource platform. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia announced this at Friday’s extended meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, in Yerevan.

"We are ready for a constructive dialogue based on mutual understanding and, taking into account the interests of all member states of the Union, to regulate some provisions of the draft international agreement on the formation of the single [natural] gas market, the implementation of which will allow the member states to fully enjoy the advantages of the single gas market. Otherwise, the EEU member states will not be able to use the potential of the single gas market until the end of the bilateral agreements. This is a very sensitive topic, and we all need understanding in the price horizon—at least in the medium term," he said.

The Armenian PM assured that the EEU is consistently moving towards the elimination of barriers, calling it a problem of the stability of the internal market.

"This is a continuous process, the effectiveness of which largely depends on the willingness to find compromise solutions," Pashinyan noted.

Also, the Armenian premier expressed confidence that the use of the potential of financial organizations and joint efforts will soon practically enable to switch to the production of goods that are in demand in the EEU.

"Another important and relevant domain is the domain of electronic trade, the share of which is constantly growing. Effective fiscal regulation in the domain of electronic trade is becoming more and more important for us," he said.

In addition, Pashinyan expressed his belief that the formation of consistent steps in the IT sector provided by the target program for the development of the integrated information system until 2027 will serve as a strategic basis for accessing digital solutions, whose demand is extremely high.

"I want to confirm the readiness of the Armenian side to actively cooperate with all member states of the Union for the benefit of Eurasian integration," the PM concluded.
