Russia welcomes any efforts of other states aimed at resolving relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as at strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in the region, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijani media reported.
"Undoubtedly, regional security remains a very topical issue in our relations, not only bilaterally, but also multilaterally. Many international colleagues, including those far from the region, take a keen interest in promoting a settlement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. As Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said, we welcome all efforts to proceed from the interests of stabilizing the situation and creating conditions for all the countries located here to cooperate normally on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit in the interests of their states," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
