The matter of the Armenia’s constitution is not part of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan. Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan told this to reporters after the Armenian government’s cabinet meeting Thursday.

"Armenia is not talking with Azerbaijan about changing the constitution; there is no discussion about demilitarization either. Several proposals have been made by Armenia regarding confidence-building mechanisms, including mutual overseeing," said Kostanyan.

Reflecting on the format of the talks with Azerbaijan, the Armenian deputy FM noted that these talks between the two countries were proceeding directly with one another.

"But there are partners who are truly interested in stability and peace in the South Caucasus and are trying to positively assist this agenda," added Kostanyan.

Also, the Armenian official noted that although the matter of unblocking of regional communications is not included in the draft of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan, discussions on this topic were in progress.

Kostanyan recalled that the deputy prime ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan also had discussed this matter after the meeting of the border delimitation commissions of the two countries.
