There is an objective reality, and there are subjective perceptions. The objective reality is that Armenia and Azerbaijan have once again recognized—in Washington—each other's territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and inviolability of borders. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during Wednesday’s question-and-answer session with the government at the National Assembly of Armenia.

“It follows from this that such channels on which Armenia makes a decision and in connection with which agreements have been reached may exist through the territory of Armenia,” he added.

Also, Pashinyan had brought with him a large photocopy of the document signed in Washington.

“It is stated here that there will be an infrastructure called TRIPP [i.e. the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity] on the territory of Armenia. The whole story is that under this protocol there is also the signature of the US president, the signature of the Azerbaijani president. If we are talking about regional communications, we have drawn that framework and signed what regional communications and unblocking are about. But this is not all. In point 4 of this paper, it is stated that the TRIPP project is an agenda matter for discussion between Armenia and the US. The question will arise as to what Azerbaijan has to do with this. The connection is as follows that this regional project should touch Azerbaijan, the communications of Armenia and Azerbaijan should touch each other, but the TRIPP project is a matter of Armenia-US bilateral discussion,” said Pashinyan.

“Also, [US President Donald] Trump and I have signed a memorandum of intent on the development of the Crossroads of Peace project [of Armenia]. We have agreed that this project will be implemented on the basis of the principle of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and inviolability of borders of Armenia, and the US is interested in investing there. This is the objective reality,” noted the Armenian PM.

“I clearly state that there cannot be an infrastructure with the name you mentioned [i.e. ‘Zangezur Corridor’] in the territory of Armenia, but I cannot rule out that this name has become so popular in Azerbaijan due to objective and subjective circumstances that Azerbaijan can name any infrastructure passing through its territory, which may join Trump’s route, after any person. But this has nothing to do with the sovereign territory of Armenia, Armenia’s agenda, or the agreements reached by Armenia,” Nikol Pashinyan stated.
