“I have high hopes that the U.S. President will justly receive the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Vice President J.D. Vance’s visit is a key step on the path to institutionalizing peace and expanding the Armenia–United States strategic partnership,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today, February 9, during a statement with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.

“Mr. Vance was briefed on the positive processes underway in the South Caucasus, as well as on the details of the discussions held a few days ago in Abu Dhabi between the UAE and Azerbaijani presidents, which were aimed at identifying possible new steps to strengthen peace between our countries. On this occasion, I reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to supporting the U.S. government’s peace and peacekeeping mission, including the work of the Peace Council, whose charter I had the honor of signing on January 22 of this year during a ceremonial event in Davos.

With the U.S. Vice President, we emphasized the importance of the consistent implementation of the Trump Initiative for Global Peace and Prosperity, one of the most significant achievements of the Washington Peace Summit, in accordance with the framework of the TRIPP program signed on January 13 of this year between the Armenian Foreign Minister and the U.S. Secretary of State.

We reaffirmed that this program, in addition to producing serious peace dividends, will also have regional and global significance by developing seamless communication from West to East. We expressed our satisfaction with the preparatory work for the program’s implementation, as well as the recently launched technical and economic studies. Together with Mr. Vance, we also discussed the prospects for fully unblocking the region as a key guarantee of stability and peace in the South Caucasus,” he said.

Earlier, NEWS.am reported that U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance arrived in Armenia on February 9 for an official visit with his wife, Usha Vance. At Zvartnots Airport, they were welcomed by the President of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan, and Armenia’s Ambassador to the U.S., Narek Mkrtchyan.
