Preliminary hearing in the case of Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, Chancellor of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, has begun in the Armavir Court of First Instance.
Archbishop Khachatryan is charged in connection with an incident in 2018. According to the indictment, he had ordered marijuana to be put in the bags of members of the "New Armenia, New Patriarch" movement in order to discredit them. This was deemed as illegal drug trafficking for the purpose of sale.
