YEREVAN. – A monument honoring the 1915 Assyrian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire opened in downtown Yerevan on Wednesday (photos). 

According to the head of the Assyrian community Arsen Mikhailov, the monument testifies to the fact that the pain suffered by the Armenians, Assyrians and the Greeks because of the Turks is not forgotten.

“We must demand that Turkey should recognize the Armenian Genocide and paid compensation to different nations,” he said.

Assyrians were annihilated in the Ottoman Empire during the years of WWI.
