YEREVAN. – The attempts of Moldova’s Ombudsman Aurelia Grigoriu to provoke a scandal and damage Armenia’s image have ruined.

Madame Grigoriu, a participant of Yerevan-hosted international conference, deliberately locked herself in her room and refused to participate in the program following her provocative speech and statements about “occupied territories” voiced in the Armenian parliament.

However, Grigoriu decided not to lose time in vain and contacted her “supporters” outside Armenia presenting a complete misinformation on her stay. Subsequently, numerous articles telling about Grigoriu who allegedly “was taken captive” and “was attacked by those wishing revenge” have appeared on the web.

The situation in reality is totally different. No one was breaking or knocking at the door of a hotel room of Madame Grigoriu.

Spokesperson for the Constitutional Court of Armenia Hovhannes Papikyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that Aurelia Grigoriu did not appear near the bus when a delegation of Moldova was to leave to the airport.

In order not to be late for the flight, a bus with a delegation was sent to the airport. A car was hired and a ticket was booked for Moldova’s ombudsman. However, the guest did not use them. Instead, a man, who introduced himself as an employee of the Romanian Embassy in Armenia, came to the hotel and took Grigoriu, arguing that she is a citizen of Romania.

The whereabouts of an aurum-loving “human rights defender” who spared no effort (probably not for free) to trigger the scandal are not known. Apparently, the Embassy of Romania decided not to aggravate the situation and quickly send Grigoriu home.
