YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan attended re-opening of a mineral water factory in Gavar.

The capacity of the factory is expected to reach 20-25 million bottles a year, and at the initial stage it is 5 million bottles, founder of the project Misak Balasanyan told reporters.

“Sevan” factory was founded back in 1953 and produced 5 million bottles a year in 1970-80s. The factory was closed in 1992 and was purchased by the Balasanyan family n 2010.

The local mineral water differs from many others in Armenia since it is almost free of arsenic, Balasanyan said.

The company plans to sell its products in the local market, while around 20 thousand bottles have been already exported to Russia and Georgia. There are 80 people working at a factory, but the number of jobs will be increased to 180.
