The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Nikolay Bordyuzha, discussed the escalation of Karabakh conflict with the Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told TASS.

“A telephone conversation took place during which the sides reached an agreement on the necessity to take measures and stop the military actions in the conflict zone,” he said.

Zainetdinov also noted that earlier Bordyuzha had also held talks with the Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan. The latter briefed CSTO Secretary-General on the situation in the conflict zone, the spokesman added.

In Zainetdinov’s words, the Karabakh conflict “has no military solution and must be solved by means of talks, which are underway in the framework of the international mechanisms.”

As reported earlier, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs will discuss the situation round Karabakh next week. At the consultations Russia will be represented by Ambassador Igor Popov. Pierre Andrieu and James Warlick will represent France and the U.S. respectively.
