YEREVAN. - The military balance between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides was upset exactly due to Russia, and this is continuing, Armenian National Assembly (NA) MP Zaruhi Postanjyan from Heritage Party said at a press-conference Tuesday.

In her words, Russia’s sale of over $5 billion offensive weapons to Azerbaijan and the official statement that this will continue, upset the balance existing between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides before 2014.

“An agreement was signed last year, under which concession loan in the amount of $200 million was allegedly allocated to Armenia. We were to obtain modern weapons for that amount, and the balance had to be redressed. However, it is unknown whether those arms will be supplied. I am sure that this will not happen,” Postanjyan noted.

According to the MP, Armenia should realize that bilateral policy does not stem from its interests.  “On the contrary, we should not concede our sovereignty,” she added.
