The United States are imposing the largest ever package of sanctions against North Korea, Donald Trump said in his speech.

“Today I am announcing that we are launching the largest-ever set of new sanctions on the North Korean regime," Mr Trump said in released sections of a speech.

The list includes 56 vessels, shipping companies and trade businesses which, as believed in Washington, help North Korea to avoid sanctions.

The situation on the Korean peninsula deteriorated sharply in 2017 after North Korea conducted a series of missile launches, as well as a nuclear test. The UN Security Council repeatedly adopted resolutions against Pyongyang, establishing the severest sanctions regime in the 21st century. In particular, the supply of crude oil and processed products to the DPRK is limited, and all UN countries are ordered to send North Korean labor migrants home no later than the end of 2019.
