At the moment all 9 Armenian citizens are safe in Tunisia, Spokesman for Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan told NEWS.am, referring to the Armenian Embassy in Egypt.

A military coup against the Ben Ali regime and President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali has erupted in Tunisia. According to the latest information, the authorities lost control in the capital and other cities.  Although the President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali imposed a state of emergency in the country and a nighttime curfew, thousands of protestors go on taking the streets. Riots in the country have begun since December 17.
