World media outlets reported on Sunday that internationally recognized President of Ivory Coast Alassane Ouattara sent a letter to cocoa exporters instructing them to stop supplies of cocoa beans until February. The move is aimed at exerting financial pressure on his rival incumbent President Laurient Gbagbo.

Ivory Coast is the world’s largest exporter of cocoa beans. The highest price for cocoa over 5 months was registered last week, the British Telegraph reported.

On the whole cocoa price increased by about 14% since the presidential elections leading to political crisis in the country took place.  The experts forecast that price for coca may go up by 10%.

The Armenian companies are mainly using cocoa beans imported from Africa. Last September the Armenian Company Grand Candy broke the Guinness World Record for the biggest chocolate bar by making a bar weighing 4,410 kg.
